The holiday season is here and with it some end-of-the-year days off.  It’s a time when most companies give their employees some time out to relax and spend time with family. The aim of the holiday rest is utterly defeated if employees come back from vacation bushed or exhausted than they left. According to statistics, we waste as much as 30 percent of our holidays and only 13 percent of employees feel really rested when they return to work. How can we really utilize and enjoy that long-awaited free time?  The question now is. When was the last time you took a vacation and came back fully rested, renewed, and refreshed?

If we agree that rest should produce renewal and better productivity. Therefore, in order to maintain health and balance between personal and professional life. We absolutely need to rest, so we can maintain a sense of contentment and happiness. However, in order to be effective, the holiday itself requires a proper preparation.

If you want to get the absolute best benefit out of your holiday break, Here’s what you really need to do:

Research shows that as much as 40 percent of us find it really difficult to forget about work during our holidays. Despite the time spent relaxing, we check business emails, answer calls, and sometimes even return from holidays for an emergency situation. Being too close to our place of employment doesn’t allow for regeneration, so may cause us to keep thinking about work despite being on holiday which can lead to a sense of professional burnout. That is why before the holidays, you should complete all professional matters and don’t start new ones because the awareness of impending work will certainly not let you rest.

  1. Get plenty of sleep.

Sleep is extremely important to our work and our health and most of us don’t get enough of it. Studies show that vacations improve our well-being if we make sure to get all the sleep we need during our time off. Among other things, this means making sure you have a comfortable and relaxing place to sleep where you can be sure of getting all the rest you need. That’s a great reason to get a suitable and comfortable sleep surface that will make your holiday a memorable experience.

Food is more than fuel and materials, it’s also love, pleasure, celebration, plus critical information to our body. During the holiday period, endeavor to take a trip. As we travel, we experience different foods with entertainingly different results. That’s important every time of year, but doubly so at holiday time. So don’t be solitary during the holidays. If there isn’t an appealing gathering of family or friends to attend, find a community event or volunteer somewhere.

Ever wonder why people enjoy music so much? It’s because we are inherently musical. Try to make your vacation days rhythmic. Music helps you to relax and reminisce. During the holiday, ensure that you play music and also engage in other activities that are rhythmic such as dancing, singing, or choreography. By doing this, it helps the body to be refreshed and rejuvenated.

Rest is not a passive, slow process but quick and active. Using active rest techniques, like following a memorable meal with a pleasant ramble in a park, can aid far more than your waistline. Some people like visiting parks and recreational centers or even camping, while others prefer to be onlookers. Vacations are new experiences.
